Scrolling
Brief
The article describes all possible ways of scrolling a chart.
Details
Scrolling allows you to move vertically and horizontally through a chart to view the chart
prices and periods that are out of the viewing area.
Keyboard Scrolling
You can scroll a chart horizontally within the chart data by pressing the ARROW keys.
- To view earlier periods, press the LEFT ARROW key.
- To view later periods, press the RIGHT ARROW key.
Also you can scroll a chart horizontally within the chart data by pressing
the PAGE UP and PAGE DOWN keys. In this case the chart is scrolled back
or forward approximately by the same number of periods as currently visible
on the chart.
- To view earlier periods, press the PAGE UP key.
- To view later periods, press the PAGE DOWN key.
Moreover, you can scroll a chart to view the latest or the oldest period of
the chart data using the HOME and END keys.
- To view the oldest period, press the HOME key.
- To view the latest period, press the END key.
Mouse Scrolling
Mouse scrolling allows you to move both horizontally and vertically through
the chart. Unlike keyboard scrolling, horizontal mouse scrolling can be used
to add new periods to the chart. The new periods are downloaded
automatically once the chart is scrolled out of the chart data.
To scroll a chart by mouse
- Point to the chart.
- Scroll the chart horizontally/vertically:
- To see earlier periods, drag the pointer to the right or rotate the mouse
wheel down.
- To see later periods, drag the pointer to the left or rotate the mouse wheel
up.
- To see higher prices, drag the pointer down.
- To see lower prices, drag the pointer up.
Note:
- You can scroll the chart to view later periods until the latest period is displayed
at the left border of the chart.
- You can scroll a chart vertically only if the vertical autoscaling is disabled. See
Scaling.
Automatic Scrolling
Automatic scrolling allows you to view the latest data as soon as they are
received. Each time the latest period is added to the chart, the chart is
scrolled automatically so that the latest period is displayed at the right
border of the chart.
The automatic scrolling is enabled by default.
To disable/enable the automatic scrolling, do one of the following:
- On the toolbar, click Lock View.
- On the Chart menu, click Lock View.
