Optimize Strategy

This section describes how to optimize a strategy.

In Marketscope you can optimize any standard or custom strategy. The process is called optimization. It allows to search for strategy parameters that are most profitable on certain past market data.

The special application for optimization provided by Marketscope is called Strategy Optimizer.

To optimize a strategy, do one of the following:

• On the Alerts and Trading Automation menu, click Optimize Strategy.
• Right-click in the chart, point to Alerts and Trading Automation, and then click Optimize Strategy.
• In Strategy Dashboard, click the Optimize Strategy button on the toolbar.
• Right-click in Strategy Dashboard, and then click Optimize Strategy.
• Right-click a strategy or alert label on any chart, and then click Optimize Strategy.
  
  In FXCM Trading Station, the command is available on the toolbar and on the Alerts and Trading Automation menu.

The Strategy Optimize window appears.



There you should specify the account parameters, select strategy parameters to optimize, and choose a range of data and instruments to test. The strategy will be applied to the past market data, and you will see its results for different parameter sets on a graph and in a special table. Then you can save your optimization project including all the optimization parameters and results.

To open a saved optimization project, on the Alerts and Trading Automation menu, click Open Optimization Project.
