Simple Line Options

The article explains how to customize the options of simple lines.

Details

The term simple line applies to all lines on a chart created with the Add Line command of the Add Line tool.
You can customize simple line options in a variety of ways: select line colors, styles, and widths, extend lines beyond their starting and ending points, show or hide line labels, etc.
To customize the options:

  1. Do one of the following:

  2. The Options dialog box appears.



  3. In the left-hand panel, click Line Options.

  4. In the right-hand panel, customize the following options at your choice:

Simple Line Options

Option

Description

Line style

The option allows selecting the default style of simple lines: click in the option row, click the arrow button, and then, in the list that appears, click a style of your choice. The values are Solid line, Dashed line, Dotted line, Dashes and dots, and Dashes and double dots.

Line width

The option allows selecting the default width of simple lines: click in the option row, highlight or delete the existing value, and then type or select a width value of your choice. The values are whole numbers from 1 through 5.

Line color

The option allows selecting the default color of simple lines: click in the option row, click the ellipsis button, and then, in the Color palette that appears, select a color of your choice.

Show line in background

The option allows selecting how to show simple lines on a chart by default: in the background (behind the chart bars) or in the forefront (in front of the chart bars). To select, click in the option row, click the arrow button, and then click a value of your choice. The values are False and True.

Extend line start

The option allows selecting whether to extend a simple line beyond its starting point by default or not: click in the option row, click the arrow button, and then click a value of your choice. The values are False and True.

Extend line end

The option allows selecting whether to extend a simple line beyond its ending point by default or not: click in the option row, click the arrow button, and then click a value of your choice. The values are False and True.

Show line label

The option allows selecting whether to show a simple line label on a chart by default or not: click in the option row, click the arrow button, and then click a value of your choice. The values are False and True.

To enable the modified values, click OK at the bottom of the dialog box.
