Show Tick Volume

This section describes how to view tick volume for the symbol of the main chart or a price overlay.

Details

Tick volume shows how many ticks (or changes of price) there are during a chart period. To move the price one way or the other, there needs to be a certain amount of trades made, and each tick represents this amount. Given the volume, a trader can judge the market activity. The higher the volume, the greater the possibility of the price change.

In Marketscope, tick volume is available for the symbol of the main chart and for symbols of price overlays. By default the tick volume is hidden.

To show tick volume for the symbol of the main chart or a price overlay:

Tick volume will appear as a histogram in a new area below the chart or price overlay. The current volume value is shown in the legend of the area. You can hide the value from the legend in General Options.

Tick volume data are saved as Indicore SDK data. If the tick volume is shown, volume data are also displayed in the table mode and in the Cursor Data window and saved to Excel.

You can navigate the area with tick volume in the same way as any other chart and add chart elements.
